The Westerner was a short lived, Black and White western that ran in 1960, from September to December. The pilot had run as an episode of Zane Grey Theater. The writer and director of many of the episodes was Sam Peckinpah, in some of his earliest work. Other writers include Bruce Gellar.. It was one of the new mature westerns of the late 50's and early 60's. It features Brian Keith and the first work by John Dehner plus a host of guest stars.
